Lil’ Ones

The Smallest Things are the Biggest in Your Heart

Being a child is the perfect blend of innocence and wonder combined with a pinch of curiosity, a dash of mischief, and a sprinkling of “whoops!”.  I adopt a blend of creative portraiture and photojournalism to craft photographs that capture your child’s uniqueness. I strive to create a fun and enjoyable experience for children and their families. Sometimes this means capturing them when they are calm and sleeping, and sometimes this means stalking them as they run and play.  Whoever your children are, I will help you to conjure scenes that help you to remember this special time.  Please contact me to discuss how I can help you create memories to last a lifetime.

Tiny Ones: Newborns & Infants

Those first few weeks of your baby’s life pass by in a blur!  Days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years.  The time flies by, but you can keep those precious moments with you.  A newborn portrait session is the perfect way to capture the sweet innocence, delicate features, and angelic expressions that fill your heart with joy. Even after that, each passing month marks a fresh chapter in the life of a family. Preserving this special time with artistic photography is truly an act of love.

Lil’ Ones: Toddlers

Once your tiny one has begun walking and talking, your life changes again!  There’s nothing quite like hearing your lil’ one ask mommy and daddy questions or hear them quietly talk to themselves while they play, and I will help you to seal those moments into a photographic memory forever.  The best time for a portrait photography session with toddlers is usually after they have eaten and napped. Rested, your child will be ready to take excellent pictures that you will always treasure.

Big Ones: Children & Teens

As your child grows older, there are a series of defining moments that shape their lives.  Most of a child’s long-term memories do not begin to be formed until between 4 and 6 years old.  This is called “childhood amnesia”.  Before this age, it is important to document your child’s growth because they will have difficulty remembering it themselves.  After this, when long-term, autobiographical memories are first beginning to form, photographs can serve as a form of memory strategy that will help to seal those memories with a visual reminder of each experience. I strive to create a relaxed and memorable photography session, while directing a variety of posed and lifestyle family portraits to truly capture the emotions of each special occasion. With an eye for perfect moments and unique perspectives, I create portraits that are beautiful, intimate, and emotional.  I love getting to know each of my clients, and creating one-of-a-kind art that you will treasure forever.

Life Events

From your child’s birth and the first few moments of their new life to all of their special moments, I will help you to chronicle your child’s life.  In addition to portraits, I also cover life events such as birthday parties, christenings and baptisms, holidays, confirmations, bar mitzvas, homecomings and proms, sporting events and performances, graduation, and any other special moments you and your child will cherish.

What to Bring

While I do maintain a collection of children’s toys and accessories, I recommend bringing your child’s favorite toy to help them relax as this usually results in a superior photograph.  Other toys, props and accessories that you would like in your child’s photographs are also welcome.  In addition, I recommend bringing several outfits that you would like your child to wear while being photographed, and it is also helpful to bring at least 1-2 extra outfits because accidents sometimes happen.  These outfits are ideally something that the child does not mind wearing and has worn before (and recently) to ensure fit.  After all, a comfortable child is a happy child, and a happy child makes the best photographs!

Location, Location, Location!

Whether you prefer to have your photography session in the comfort of your home or at an outdoors location of your choice, I am prepared to shoot in rain or shine.  I utilize many different shooting styles and can capture almost any aesthetic you like. Regardless of whether the photography session occurs in my studio, outdoors, or in your home, I encourage your baby to play and explore without feeling under any pressure to perform or smile on command.  Gone are the days of stiff poses and cheesy smiles, and now is the time to embrace natural and emotional baby photography that will fill your heart with joy.  It is sometimes the most spontaneous pose, expression, or reaction that makes for the most beautiful photograph of your child.
